Bespoke bedroom: Design it!

Every bedroom is individually styled to suit your taste and made to measure, whether that be classical, traditional or contemporary. Style is so personal. That is why our massive range of door styles will cater to every taste.

From traditional shaker style to glossy clean lines in a seemingly endless range of colours from classic white or alabaster to Dark Walnut or Pippy Oak, we are confident that we can do whatever you desire.

We can incorporate mirrors or frosted, clear or coloured glass. Or maybe you would like a door with clean lines such as our Milan styling which incorporates a recess on the edge of the door allowing you to open it without the need for conventional handles or knobs.

The internal layout is designed to maximise your space. Choose single or double built in wardrobes with your choice of long and short hanging or shelves.

How does the process work?

Whether you’ve just moved house or want to give your current bedroom a refresh, fitted wardrobes can be an excellent choice. Offering neat storage that can follow the contours of your room, built-in bedroom wardrobes can help you make the most of your space. And with GPM Designs, you can choose every detail of your new furniture. Here’s how it works:

1. Book a free home design service

First up, we’ll visit your home to discuss your requirements and explore options. We’ll survey the room and provide you with a written quotation the same day or the next day. The quote will include a high-quality 3D drawing and plan of your room.

Our average house visit lasts about half an hour — or longer at your request.

2. Choose your custom design

At GPM Designs, we want to ensure every aspect of your bedroom furniture is individually styled to suit your taste. Whether you want something classical, traditional or contemporary, we offer a huge range of door styles to choose from.

You can pick the type of wood, your fitted wardrobe colour, and details including mirrors, glass, and handle styles. It’s not just the outside you get to choose, either — you can decide the internal layout of your fitted wardrobes, too.

We can integrate drawers or shoe rails, internal mirrors and tie racks as desired. Do you want shelves? Is it important for you to have a long hanging space? Mix and match the features that work for you. We can even install pull down rails if double-hanging is a bit of a squeeze in your space.

Why not complete your fitted bedroom with made-to-measure fitted drawers, bedside cabinets, or a bespoke dressing table? A custom stool will really tie the look together — and we can use a fabric of your choice for the upholstery. Supply your own or explore our fabric options.

3. We’ll install your bespoke bedroom furniture

When it comes to installing your fitted wardrobes and bedroom furniture, you can rely on our expert craftsmen. We have a dedicated team of in-house fitters, and never use subcontractors.

We ensure that every item we install is strong and durable. Our fitted wardrobes include soft-closing hinges for a touch of quality and class. We pride ourselves on attention to detail and finish all units to a high standard.

Fitted bedroom options

Corners and end of run wardrobes

You can opt for a 45 degree angled corner unit giving easy access to awkward corners. The corner door is at 45 degrees to the other doors in the run. This is often an option with an L shaped wardrobe running along 2 walls..

To break up the flat end on the end of a wardrobe run, you can opt for an angled end wardrobe design. This is a 45 degree door at the end of a run of wardrobes with 45 degree shelves behind.

This is a useful feature where an end panel is close to a room entrance. In these cases, an angled end wardrobe can completely alter the dynamics of the room, opening it up and giving the impression of more space.

Bespoke lighting designed around your room

Whether you need sockets re-positioned to accommodate your new fitted wardrobes or want to add new lighting to finish the look, we work in conjunction with a fully-certified electrician who can meet your requirements.

Sliding door fitted wardrobes

We have a wide range of sliding door wardrobe options and can build bespoke to your requirements. You can customise your wardrobe by choosing the frame colour, material and finish that suits your individual taste.

High gloss finish fitted wardrobes

Our bespoke high gloss wardrobes are made to measure and are available in a variety of colours and sizes. Offering a stylish and sleek finish, our glossy wardrobes are perfect for a modern fitted bedroom.

Non-gloss finishes

For a more traditional fitted bedroom, explore our range of woodgrain or plain non-gloss wardrobes and units. Whatever material or colour you choose, our craftsmen will design your perfect bedroom.

Real wood fitted wardrobes

Our real wood finish wardrobes offer the stunning lustre and beauty that only comes with solid wood grain. You can choose from a range of woods, including ash, red oak, white oak, maple, pine and walnut. Each brings with it a unique texture and shade for a real touch of character.

Do you have an existing piece of treasured wooden furniture? We can adapt our solid wood range to match the colour or style seamlessly. All our solid wood fitments are made in the UK to ensure quality and authenticity.

Frequently asked questions

We know that there are lots of elements to consider when choosing fitted wardrobes and bespoke bedroom furniture. That’s why we’ve put together a list of commonly asked questions.

How much do fitted wardrobes cost?

Because our fitted bedrooms are bespoke, the price can vary. It’s best to get a quote. However, as a general guide, our service could cost anything from £380 (including VAT) plus fitting for a single-door fitted wardrobe to £2600 for a full-wall 6-door wardrobe in an awkward space with angled ceilings.

Please note that our quotes relate to a full carcass as standard unless you specifically ask for no backs. Feel free to contact us for further advice.

Does fitted furniture add value to your house?

Maximising storage space can help to add value to your house and fitted furniture is a common way to do this.

Unlike freestanding furniture, our fitted wardrobes are generally fitted from floor to ceiling, which will allow you to accommodate things like double hanging (2 hanging rails, one above the other), thus maximising your available storage space. This can be very appealing to prospective buyers when it comes to selling your property.

What types of fitted furniture do you offer?

We manufacture and fit all kinds of different types of units and accessories. While bespoke bedroom wardrobes are certainly a speciality of ours, we also design and install fitted furniture solutions for all rooms of the house.

Fitted wardrobes and corner wardrobes are popular in bedrooms but we also have a full range of free-standing furniture. We can fit straight desks, corner desks and office units for your study as well as lounge units and custom shelving for your living room.

When it comes to the details, we can offer a vast array of fittings, finishings, and accessories.  Whether you need pull-down hanging rails for your fitted wardrobes, fancy mirrored doors or internal lighting, or need alcove units, we can create bespoke furniture items you’ll love.

Need something we haven’t mentioned here? Please feel free to get in touch to discuss what you’re looking for and we’re sure we can come up with the ideal solution for you.

Why should I choose GPM Designs for my bedroom furniture?

As a small, family business, we provide a friendly and personal service that we believe sets us apart from bigger companies. Your project will be overseen by the director from start to finish and you can always get in touch if you have any queries

Our fitted bedroom installations are also carried out by our own experienced fitters, not subcontractors.

We make sure our customers are always delighted with the completed installation and we’re pleased to be recommended to previous customers’ friends and family on a regular basis. Please feel free to take a look at our customer feedback — head over to Which Trusted Traders.

I have an awkward shaped room — can I still get fitted wardrobes?

Rooms with an irregular shape can be filled with character. However, sometimes it can be tricky to fit ready-made furniture in there. Because our fitted wardrobes and units are all bespoke, we can cater for angled ceilings or any conceivable room shape.

For more information, please see our awkward spaces page.

Additionally, all our doors, drawers and carcasses can be made to any size, so they are specifically made to fit your room space, keeping infill panels to a minimum size. This can help you to maximise your storage space.

Do fitted wardrobes cause damp?

Generally speaking, if you already have a damp problem, it is not a good idea to install a fitted wardrobe along that wall unless the problem has been resolved by a specialist. Dampness generally only occurs on external walls, so there shouldn’t be any problem with wardrobes installed on internal walls in the building. If you are not already experiencing damp problems with an external wall, then installing a built-in wardrobe along it is highly unlikely to cause a problem.
