Fitted bedroom cupboards are a great way to utilise your bedroom wall space — especially if you have an unusual shaped room. But how can you get the most of your fitted furniture? Make every centimetre count with our internal storage ideas.
Benefits of fitted wardrobes
The beauty of fitted bedroom cupboards is that you can tailor them to your space. If you’ve got a small or awkward shaped room, a custom sliding wardrobe can help you tidy away your clothes without anything jutting out.
By opting for bespoke fitted furniture, you can also get the perfect look to suit your style. Whether you want something sleek and modern or more traditional, you can put your own stamp on it.
But did you know that you can make your fitted wardrobe even more efficient by customising the inside?
Double hanging rails
Maximise the space inside your fitted wardrobe with two rails. By installing a top rail and one halfway up, you get twice the hanging space for shirts, blouses, trousers, skirts, and short jackets.
Pull-down rails
If with double hanging rails, you are finding it difficult to reach the top rail, our experienced GPM Designs team can fit a custom pull-down top rail instead.
Shelves or drawers
Perhaps you’d like a chest of drawers for your clothes, but your room can’t accommodate one. Why not utilise the space inside your fitted bedroom cupboards? You could dedicate one side of your wardrobe to a rail for long dresses and the other to shelves or drawers. Alternatively, you might prefer to have a high rail for shirts with shelf above and drawers underneath.
Or how about those less frequently used items, like spare bedding and seasonal coats? A high shelf above your clothes rail will keep them clean and tucked away until you need them.
Whichever form of shelving or drawers you’d like for your fitted wardrobe, we can provide the perfect internal storage solution to suit your needs.
Shoe rails
Have you got a lot of shoes? Keep them organised and tidy with a pull out shoe rack inside your wardrobe. There are 2 types available – one which is fixed on both sides of the unit and pulls out, which holds 8-10 pairs of shoes or we also offer a side hung pull out shoe rack that can hold 8-10 pairs of shoes. Both options can be seen in our showroom.
Door mirror
A full-length mirror is handy to have but freestanding ones can take up a lot of space. Why not consider fitting a mirror on your cupboard door? You can add one on the inside or the outside of your wardrobe.
Tie racks
Ties can be a fiddly one to store. Do you put them in a drawer? Hang them over your wardrobe rail? If you wear a tie on a daily basis, a small tie rack or rail on the inside of your cupboard door can make sure they’re easy to get to.
Internal lighting
Wardrobe lighting may not improve your cupboard space, as such, but it can make finding clothes easier! Adding some illumination to the inside of your fitted bedroom cupboards can prevent you from scrabbling around in the dark. These are particularly beneficial if you need to get up and dressed but don’t want to disturb your sleeping partner with the bedroom light!
